This is my result of the week challenge by modelling something from the kitchen. I choose to model a garlic press.

I started out by examining the piece and created some reference photos for accurate dimensions. I did this before the actual modelling.

The modelling process did cost me 60 minutes and I had to take some shortcuts when it came to topology. Otherwise, I would have certainly not made it within the 60 minutes. After the modelling I gave it some material, put in a 3-point light and a floor surface. Took me about 30 minutes for the final renders.

There’s garlic pressers? All I can say is, thank god for Capitalism. It’s looking great. I think the only feedback is the resolution of the round shapes, I can see the stepping due to low geometry. Nothing an extra level on the SubD can’t handle.

Thanks for the feedback. I also noticed the lack of resolution when rendering up close, but I ran out of time so left it as is to keep to the assignment. I will change garlic pressers. 🙂
