If you wonder why you can’t output pure white

I was scratching my head for a long time not understanding why the output from a constant color ramp with only pure black and white would output grey areas instead of white:

Turns out the color management settings have been significantly altered compared to a default blend file, main culprit being the exposure set to -3.
