Ctrl + M doesn’t seem to work for me, but F2 does work.

        Hi Grzegorz,

This Course was recorded with blender 2.8.2. Some shortcuts will have changed. If you use the Search Menu, most if not all shortcuts are mentioned.

You can also (recommended) take the Course with the Version used.

Did you read: https://cgcookie.com/lessons/a-word-about-blender-versions at the beginning of the Course?

Even back in 2.80 for the ctrl+M to work in renaming a marker you have to have the mouse cursor over the marker region. So the timeline and dopesheet editors have the header region(Top of editor by default), the player or playhead region(Technically the playhead is the blue bubble with the current frame number. the reset is the frame numbers.), The main region(Where you see the keyframes), the channels region(the area to the left with the search box and names of the keyed items and groupings of the keyed items), The sidebar(on the right side. I call this the n-panel, because the hotkey to open/close it is N), and marker region(Where the markers are seen at the bottom or above the header if you have the header flipped to bottom).

You can also use the menu and see the hotkey

              Hi @Kovalsky,
Yes, there was a hotkey change in a few versions back to bring some consistency in the keymap across all the different editors.

F2 renames stuff in most other parts of Blender (and some operating systems) so it was remapped.
Glad you figured it out, and thanks for reminding us we need to add an annotation to this.
