Hi everyone! Just wrapped up the fundamentals of digital lighting course and will be submitting these 4 renders as my entry. I like to use shot deck as a resource for high quality movie stills, which I recommend as they archive information about every shot like rgb colors, lighting type, and more. also great for composition ideas.

First entry is probably my personal favorite, referenced from Dune, one of my favorite recent sci fi movies, and my favorite novel growing up.

Second is from Man on Fire, to me this shot conveys a man considering some vengeful thoughts.

Third is from John Wick 4, May the great Lance Riddick rest in peace

and finally a shot from Black Sea, which I think I got pretty spot on.

Hi Mohammed @moe ,

Not bad. This is not an easy exercise!

And I am not a lighting expert, but when you look for instance at the shadow under the nose in the first and even more so in the second image, there might be room for improvement…

Nicely done Mohamed, first one is my favorite also. You don’t have to stop there, you can continue making others on your own, it really is a fun exercise.

Thank you both for your kind feedback! and Martin, Yes I see what you mean about the shading under the nose. on Dune, that was an oversight on my part, but on Man on Fire, I genuinely couldn’t find the right angle to replicate those shadows. Something for me to improve on, for sure.
