uh…  Well what I mean is that out of the blue youtube has uploaded my latest exercise submission video to the “shorts” section which gives it an url with “shorts/” in it.  I’ve uploaded 4 other videos in the past 2 days of a shorter length with the same process with no problem so I don’t know what the deal is.  what’s more, there doesn’t seem to be any way to change the dsignation as a “short” and get a new url.  Youtube just refuses to take my monkey out of their shorts…

Anyway this causes the CGCookie site not to recognize the url as valid and I can’t submit my homework.  It’s a shame because this one is beautiful.

You can post it here so we can see it. I’ll let the tech CG Cookie guys know about this issue, sounds like a hassle that needs to be addressed.

Yeah that’s a YouTube new issue auto-changing stuff to shorts. We’ll see if we can get some resolution to this via the devs soon.

In the meantime, I agree with Omar. Upload here. We can see about getting you some XP. Just reference back to the exercise you were working on.

@autobodhi try editing your submission link to match and pressing enter.  We think that should be a work around that allows you to upload here while we fight with YouTube about the trouble they caused.

Let me know if that works for you.  In the meantime I’m going to retrieve your monkey Indiana Jones style.

Have you tried disabling the Shorts Permissions for your video as per this article?

Ooh thanks for the replies fam, I’m going to try some of them now.  Meanwhile I realized that what causes them to automatically categorize things as A “short is the combination of being under a minute and also the aspect ratio being square or taller than it it wide.  So somehow my aspect ratio for that exercise submission was in that spectrum.  Easy fix for the future.

After all that the link to the video has been magically changed to a normal, non short link.  Not sure why the change of heart on their part but I hope you enjoy my swirling Suzannes 🙂

short is the combination of being under a minute

Did you change the length of the video to over 60 seconds?

That is what defines a ‘Short’ on YouTube, and re-formats it for mobile phone screens.
