Hi all, here is my WIP thread for the Feb Pokemon challenge: Kingler. I actually wanted to do Krabby but decided to go with Kingler as it is slightly more interesting with its asymmetrical claw. I only watched 1st season of pokemon aeons ago but I do remember Ash’ Krabby and Kingler being the underdog champion. Making this pokemon bringing back so much joyful childhood memory.

First Blocking

Not sure if I should sculpt then retopo or should I do Multires Modifiers then sculpt. I guess I will play around with both and see how it goes.

Daily progress pics. Sculpting part 1. I hope I captured the gleeful personality of the Kingler. I didn’t enjoy doing the legs much.

I couldn’t find any picture of what the back of Kingler looks like – so it is very much made up. Not sure where those arm sockets meant to go as well. I guess I should move it around depending on the pose =D

Great progress @melinmotion ,

The arms socket looks well placed to me, but I think he is missing a pair of rear legs, or am I jumping the gun!

Thank you. I wish I can model & sculpt faster though (like you hehe). Thing thing is taking longer than I predicted.

Thanks @beefkeef I am glad you like it! Love your work btw. I saw in other thread you said you were too busy to join this challenge as you are doing the Human course currently. How about doing Mr Mime Pokemon in Human course style? 😋 😆

I’ve never heard of Mr Mime before but now I’ve googled him…. how cool is he! That would make a great project for sure, I think a realistic version would be really creepy! 😅😅😅
