      “Photorealistic Environments” lesson 2, at 3:45, making the flanges on the ductwork in the parking garage:

      Instructor says alt-click to select a ring of faces.

      When I try to do that it selects a ring of faces in the perpendicular direction and I don’t know how to specify which direction I mean.

        Click on the Edge, perpendicular to the Faceloop you want. Like this:

        versus:

          If you want to loop faces horizontally select the edge either left or right. If you want to loop faces vertically select the edge either up or down.
