Oh that looks awesome @donsoarese, that still looks lo poly, no? Excellent use of detail. You should be able to get some nice variation on the Wainscoting with that.

Excellent work for week 1! Nice job adding wood details into the model. You’ve earned full points from me plus a little extra 👍

You’re in great shape to add sculpted accents to these boards for week 2. I believe I saw you in the stream yesterday..I hope that gave you some insight into sculpting wood.

Thanks for posting here @donsoarese! My apologies for not clearly explaining.

I’m glad to see you rocking the tileable sculpt approach. It’s definitely the optimal approach for wainscoting imo.

My main note is that the crevices and divots are way too deep. Like 5-10x too deep. Looking at your file the divots are thicker than the wood boards would be 😅

Such deep crevices throws off the scale and wood-like appearance. You can try to salvage what you have with the fill brush but it may be faster to start over and sculpt the wood detail again. Sorry, I hate giving redo advice since I hate redoing work 😕 …but it’s always better the second time

@donsoarese  I wonder if using a combination of the Mask Brush (on parts that don’t protrude) and then scaling all of the extrusions or using the Line Project brush could solve the inconsistancies.

You could even use some other brushes to try to take it to the next level and maintain what Kent suggested???

Thx @theluthier and @blanchsb, this was my first ever sculpting.

Thanks for taking your time reviewing and giving tips.

I ll start this one over.

Second time WILL be better ;).

@donsoarese That wainscoting is looking like it needs a good power washing! It is funny how the dirtier and grimier something is in CG the better but in real life.. you’d get a nasty letter from the Homeowner Association. Well done!

Your wainscoting turned out beautiful @donsoarese! Looks finished to me in fact – I’ve no feedback to give. It looks great in the assembly 🤩

The new version, with Walls_prx copy/pasted.

(edit: during the casual stream on thursday 29/04 i saw some seams(?)gaps between the wainscoting in the walls. I only redid the wainscoting behind the house, do I redo the wainscoting on all walls?, not sure if the new blockout has other wall dimensions).

@donsoarese , it looks like you are finishing up with your project.  And, your wainscoting looks great.  I’d love to post your artwork in the TSMF Blog.  Please let me know if you create a money shot.
