I am having some difficulty orienting the hairs as shown around 7:00 in the video. Sometimes I am able to change the orientation by moving the root with “g” as shown, but not always.

Has 2.8 introduced any better way to do this? The lack of control is pretty frustrating.

Nothing fundamental has changed in the hair particle editing department as far as I know.

        Frustrating? Maybe. Rewarding? Yes!

(Nobody said it was going to be easy, right?)

Ah thats too bad, the flat wavy hair style looks great but not being able to rotate the strand is problematic.

I found a workaround though (which introduces all sorts of problems I’m not aware of I am sure, probably with deflect emitter).

If you add a plane to the emitter(or just disconnect one of the quads on the scalp) you can place the hair strand on that plane and then exactly control the strand roll by rotating the plane around its normal.
