      Many times I felt in over my head and very frustrated,  I often watched an explanation multiple times to get the hang of it. It wasn’t uncommon for me to dedicate a several hours to a lesson, I feel dissapointed and burned out. Maybe I should have gathered it from it’s appearance but this is also a lot more detailed than I usually work and it struck me by surprise.

      Sometimes the way I interpreted advice felt like a downfall and I had to work around it at a later date.

      I feel the amount of information retention was low and I was just struggling to keep up. The subscription fee feels like a pressure to do well and a large penalty for being slow to learn.

      For the record I am not a complete beginner at 3D modelling but somebody who was comfortable with the basics of Blender 2.79b.

        @originalcharacter I am sorry to hear your frustration. I have been a member for about a year and I have to say that I have loved the course content but I too am a very slow learner. I spent the first 6 months outside “The Community” and just submitting things. It has taken a lot of frustrating moments trying to model things on my own and I still feel like a noob after having used blender for 3 years now.

        I thought the treasure chest course was quite exceptional. If you paid for a membership you can also watch the live stream where they teach how to model a sword using similar concepts. One cool thing about this past series is that the concepts are taught in two different yet similar ways.

        I think spending some time in the mesh modeling boot camp learning flow helped a lot though if you are looking for some simpler lessons.

        Don’t give up. Just pace yourself. Good things come with lots of practice. And for someone like me, lots of time unfortunately haha. If you need a hand with some of the simple stuff you can message me. I try to check stuff weekly since I other competing life priorities.

          I have yet to tackle that course, but I understand the feeling of frustration when you struggle to keep up. I think you should just go easy on yourself and try something less complicated. There are courses for just modeling, texturing or animating..  working on a specific aspect at a time is definitely easier. Then you can go back to the treasure chest with much more confidence.

          Just enjoy what you’re doing and ask any time you need help. We are all in the same boat 🙂

              Hey @originalcharacter ,

              I think the problem is on your side. Maybe you expect too fast progress from yourself.
              These videos were made so you can rewatch them at any time. You don’t have to get everything on the first try. Take your time and get comfortable with the current subject/video and when you get a satisfying result for yourself, you can move on to the next video.
              If you’d like some feedback while you’re progressing on the course, post some screenshots in the forum and ask for a feedback.
              (I hope this doesn’t sound cantankerous, I just mean to cheer you up :D)

                Hi @originalcharacter,

                It sounds like you are be expecting too much of yourself too soon.  It might be a matter of changing your perspective on things.

                You could aim to make your project as good as someone who has had 15+ years of experience, but that would be counter productive.  Just aim to make it better than your last project.

                What ever level you’re at, the goal is to get to the next one.  

                Your subscription fee will get you to that next level, one level at a time.

                Please don’t feel like you are slow to learn.

                Q: How long does it take to learn something?

                A: Exactly as long as it needs to.
