If this is such a “mess’, it will probably easier for us to troubleshoot if you can just post a link (via Dropbox, Googledrive, osr so) to your .blend file.
I have no idea what’s going on and it might not even be something that is shown in your screenshots. It may also not be limited to 1 culprit. And this way we can rule out that is nothing on your end (GPU Driver, for instance).
(Coming back to the title, I am pretty sure that it has nothing to do with the Blender Version.)
