The usual suspects are so-called ‘double Vertices’ and/or inconsitent Normals.
In Edit Mode, Select all with A and then M > Merge > By Distance, followed by SHIFT+N.
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, could you please post some screenshots? Edit Mode, Object Mode with and without Modifier.
